Organizations

Organizations are shared workspaces for teams. They help groups manage short links, members, analytics, and branded domains together.

Use Organizations to view your workspaces or create a new one.

When to use an organization

Create an organization when links belong to a team, brand, campaign, customer, school, nonprofit, or company rather than one person.

Organizations are useful when you need:

  • Shared visibility for link activity.
  • Multiple people creating links under the same workspace.
  • A branded short-link domain.
  • Member roles and access control.
  • Team-level reporting.

Create an organization

From Create organization, enter the organization details.

Field What to enter
Name The display name people see in URLNow.
Workspace username A short, URL-friendly name for the organization.
Type Optional category, such as team, agency, nonprofit, creator, education, or company.
Logo Optional image used to identify the workspace.

The person who creates the organization becomes the owner automatically.

Workspace username

The workspace username appears in organization URLs and should clearly identify the workspace.

Examples:

  • acme
  • acme-marketing
  • city-college
  • spring-campaign

Choose a username that identifies the team without unnecessary length.

Roles

Role Best for What they can usually do
Owner The person responsible for the workspace. Manage settings, members, ownership, and deletion.
Admin Team leads or workspace operators. Help manage members, invitations, links, analytics, and domain settings.
Member People who create or manage their own links. Work inside the organization and manage their own organization links.

Keep the owner role limited. Use admin for people who help operate the workspace.

Invite members

Owners and admins can invite members by email from the Members page.

The invited person receives an invitation link and can accept or decline it. Invitations can assign either:

  • Admin
  • Member

Before sending an invitation, confirm the email address and role. Admin access should only be given to people who need to manage the workspace.

Manage members

From the Members page, owners and admins can:

  • Review current members.
  • Change a member's role.
  • Remove members who no longer need access.
  • Transfer ownership when responsibility changes.

Remove access when a member no longer needs the organization workspace.

When you are switched into an organization, new short links belong to that organization.

Visibility depends on role:

Role Link visibility
Owner or admin Can review organization links and activity.
Member Can work with their own links inside the organization.

This keeps everyday member work focused while still giving owners and admins team-level oversight.

Branded domains

A branded domain lets an organization use its own domain for short links.

Example:

https://go.example.com/summer-sale

Set up a branded domain from the Domain page inside an organization.

General setup flow:

  1. Enter the domain you want to use.
  2. Add the verification record shown by URLNow to your DNS provider.
  3. Return to URLNow and run verification.
  4. Once verified, create links using the branded domain.

If the branded domain is not verified yet, organization links continue using the default URLNow domain.

Switch workspaces

Use the organization switcher to move between your personal workspace and organization workspaces.

Your active workspace controls:

  • Where new links are created.
  • Which links appear in your dashboard.
  • Which analytics you can review.
  • Which branded domain options may be available.

Before creating a link for a team, confirm that the correct organization is selected.

Organization management guidelines

  • Use descriptive organization names and workspace usernames.
  • Keep owner and admin roles limited.
  • Remove members who no longer need access.
  • Verify branded domains before sharing campaign links.
  • Use clear custom endings for campaigns, departments, and customer-facing links.
